Oh Goodness! I just realized that is has been two and one half years since I did anything on this blog; I have too many things in my mind and since it (my mind) is slowing down, I better list the things that I want to refer to, and I’ll get back to each one individually.
1. My father’s passing.
2. My mother’s health.
3. My son’s wedding.
4. My new grandson, Domenic.
5. My three kids.
6. My three grandkids.
7. My daughter-in-law, Mari.
8. My son-in-law, Neal.
9. My activities.
10. Last but not least, our “stinking president”.

Here are few highlights; into the second month of the mesiah’s rule and we are on a downspin that does not seem to have a bottom. I am sorry if I appear a little pessimistic but recalling what Obama’s preacher said from his pupit: “God damn America” Iguess that God heard him loud and clear. Hopefully there are many more of us who love this Country and believe in God and know that He is compassionate and that He will start blessing this USA again. On another note; David, my son, broke his finger while playing sofball. I am glad it was not hardball, otherwise he may have broken his hand. I am glad he is ok, he got operated on today. I do not know how long he is going to be expected to be under medical care. I hope he recovers soon and well, we need to work hard in his house next week (my spring break from work).
My wife is visiting her mother in Costa Rica and doing some work in the house in Alajuela, her mother is recovering from some circulation problem and all is going well. I am going to start placing some family pictures and will start with my mother-in-law, my wife likes this picture.

My dear mother-in-law Claudia Bravo

As a youngster, my mother told me what to do; as a married man, my wife tells me what to do; as a father, my daughter Olga is telling me what to do; wont be long that as as an old man, my grand daughter Catherine is going to be telling me what to do. What is this all about? Just a rhetorical question, after all, I love them all. OK Olga, I took an unofficial sabbatical. You all must understand that what has happened to our country the last couple of months, is not going down easily. In simple words: all this crap is hard to swallow. Is just very hard for me to be motivated when I see that our country is in the hands of some key individuals who really do not know what hard times in their personal lives and personal decency is all about. I think that professional politicians should all be done away with via the voting booth. We need individuals who love their country more than they love themselves, their personal power and their pocketbooks. Does not matter if they are Republicans, Democrats, independents or just plain weirdos. Out, Out, Out; or like my wife or my daughters say to the dogs: uno… dos…. y… tres, afuera! I’ll be back!

I recently mentioned my mother’s health, she is being taken care of. What is so awesome is that she talks like nothing is going on, she just says that time will tell if the treatment goes well or not and then she just shrugs it off. Any way, this Saturday (12-13-08), was her 86th birthday, thanks God for keeping her in such good shape and great disposition. I thank my brothers because all of them are always on top of things, whatever my parents need, the three of them (David, Jose and Juan) are ready to help, but I like to emphasize that my brother Jose, is the one that has dedicated the last few years to watch over my parents on a continuous basis, day in and day out, he is with them. The only exception is when he goes to mass and when goes out biking, he usually does not stay away more than an hour or so. He was a member of group of monastic brothers helping the poor in northern Mexico, then he decided to go back to Costa Rica at about the same time that my parents needed to be taken care of to the extend that is necessary. God Bless his soul, he has already earned a place in haven.

My mother and father, married now for 63 years, God Bless them.

My first offspring was born 34 years ago, Happy birthday Ale!!!, My poor wife, she had it so rough. It seemed like an eternity, I am talking about the time my wife spent on labor. My daughter was almost a 10 pounder, big cheeks and marks of medical tools as she was pulled out. What a joy after her arrival. THANKS GOD for such gift.

Just as today is another anniversary of Pearl Harbor, today is also a special anniversary for me; it was on this day, in 1972, I became a US citizen. The thing I remember well in preparation for that event, was that I had to express myself in English, I had to read a paragraph and I had to write something as it was being said to me by an Immigration and Naturalization Officer. So why do we have to print ballots and other official documents and informational papers in other languages. Oops! I just found myself ranting. Anyway, I am thankful to this country and for what it stands for. LONG LIVE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and for those who do not like it, move to Iran or Cuba or Venezuela.

Rough times galore! I hope this year ends quickly: the economy, politics, my job (semester finals), my kids, my wife, my mother, my brother, my wife’s garden, my son’s house, my wife’s car; what else?
My daughter has a birthday coming up, happy birthday Ale! I hope that we all get closer to God, we all need something from above.

I knew it was going to be so; the morning of Nov 5th, driving to work, I felt numb, dejected, sad, upset, nauseous, etc, etc. Hoping the it was all a nightmare, but no, it was not. This is probably my biggest problem with the new president: I never, ever thought that someone who may not be able to pass a background investigation by the FBI or any other federal agency, could become the president of the U.S.A.
May I ruffle some feathers? I cannot help to think that Dr. King must be turning in his grave; after all he believed that we should not judge a person by the color of his skin but for the content of his character, here is what I think happened, many voters voted for the new president’s skin color and ignored the content of his character. What a tragedy!!!

It has been several weeks since this blog was started by my son; unfortunately, I have been very busy and just now able to get to this site. To be honest, I had already forgotten the user name and password, so it took me few more days to remember to call my son and tell him my problem, I think “oldtimers” is getting to me.
I am experiencing “deja vous”, (am I spelling this correctly?) Rather sad, worried and and so concerned about what is happening to our country. About 16 years ago, I recall reading and hearing about all the skeletons in Bill Clinton’s closet, (state troopers, Mina airport, etc, etc) . At that time I figured that it was just not feasible for a person with his background to become the president of this country and never expected him to get elected. Of course, he got elected only because Ross Perot got in the picture and screwed up things for the Republicans, it happened and the rest is history. I regress, the events developing at this time, bring up those memories of concern for the safety and well being of our country. The way things look, I dread walking up the morning of November the 5th and realizing that Obama won, makes me queasy. Reality is reality and I may not have a choice but to hope and pray that this man is kept in line by a congress that, if not smart, at least loves this country more than what the new president’s disdain for the country. Is sad to see that so many folks, that want to see Obama as president, are more concerned about themselves that their country. I recall the words of JFK ( the last decent democrat) “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”. The need to put our country first is pivotal. Some people in this country want their own personal agenda before our safety and security. God help us.
